In 2020 due to COVID, online workshops were developed for the area science museum as alternatives to their Saturday science workshops. Shortly after the COVID crisis, RPiKits was established with the vision of creating an online opportunity open to those who do not have physical access to the science museum's robotics workshop. Now, anyone can experience the online robotics workshop experience with RPiKits.
RPiKits work exclusively with Raspberry Pi and Arduino type microcontrollers. Through the RPiKits projects the user is introduced to Python or C++ programming languages. In addition, the user will also experience an introduction to electronic basics. Together these skill sets build a foundation of techniques often used in robotics, home automation, animatronics, and some artificial intelligence.
Initially the RPiKits program was directed toward youth groups and similar organizations.
We have tailored the program to be directed toward smaller sized groups (5-10). This better allows each person an opportunity to receive individualized instruction. During online workshops, individuals requiring special attention will receive personal instruction using a breakout room to get the individual up to speed with the rest of the group.
